Keeping your eyes open comes with a cost: noticing the deep settling in of winter. It's a very good thing. Going to grad school in the Midwest let me discover the difference in the seasons after only imagining them in the Texas rarely-anything-but-summer cycle.
Those are winter trees, stark against the evening sky. At least the pink clouds suggest high pressure on the way. It will still be Winter for a long time, and I still have time to get to Milwaukee for the worst of the winter.
